Llewellyn Wayne Lartigue “Butch,” 60, of Trenton, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis.

Born in Ft. Dix, Mr. Lartigue was a lifelong resident of New Jersey.  He was educated at Our Lady Divine Shephard and Trenton Central high school.  He continued his education receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and a master’s degree in business administration.

After graduating he drafted into the U.S. Air Force where he served 11 years and was honorably discharged in 1980. 

He was the executive director of the Trenton Housing Authority, and the former coordinator of The A.R.C. of Mercer County, Inc.

He served his community as a proud 33rd Degree Mason in Harmony Lodge No. 54  and was a past Grand Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Trenton chapter of the NAACP.

He was a member of Union Baptist Church, Trenton.

He was predeceased by his parents, Carlton and Dorothy Lartigue, his father and mother-in-law, Earl MCPhee and Marlene Brockington-McPhee, six uncles, five aunts, two brothers-in-law, and a first cousin, Beverly Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife Annette; three children, Rodney Sr., Amaris, and Jasna; two grandchildren, Paula Wright and Rodney Jr. (Shaaron); three great-grandchildren, Akeila Imani, Malakai and Malika; four sisters, two uncles, 20 nephews, 18 nieces, a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.

In his loving memoryhis wife and children have established the Opportunity and Hope Foundation, also known as O-ah, which works with children in Trenton public housing - and beyond - in mentoring, self-esteem and career-planning.
