Lartigue 2010 SWOT Analysis - Municipal
Services STRENGTHS * The
size of the city (small population, compact geography) * Everyone
knows people in government, vice versa. Short chain of accountability * Dedicated
city employees WEAKNESSES * Aging
infrastructure * Small
tax base * Duplication
of services: on the County and State Level * For
all the compactness of the city, a lot of secrecy about how things get done. Lack of information * Police
- Overlap of jurisdictions, between City PD and State Police * EMS -
Poor communications systems between dispatch and the field, between field units OPPORTUNITIES * The
Threat presented by cutbacks to the city budget represents an Opportunity to re-construct the city's government * Since
many of the city's Seniors are care givers for children, expanding services to Seniors will benefit
children * These
services could include expanded access to transportation, accessibility. Fill the gaps
in programs such as TRADE THREATS * Budget
cutbacks at the state and county level will trickle down quickly and affect Trenton * Lack
of transparency in the city budget make it difficult to assess where and how to cut. Lateness of
budget process make any action ineffective. * Size
of city budget, compared to other cities of comparable population, is much
larger Thank you for your participation in Lartigue 2010 Community SWOT and we look forward to seeing you. For general information about our campaign and how you can get engaged, please call (609) 534-8627 or email info@annettelartigue.com. Every Resident, Every Voice and Every Opportunity. |
